Opera 9.5

After using Opera 9.5 for a few days, I am quite happy with its performance. While a lot of people were really looking forward to Firefox 3, the Opera team released Opera 9.5 with much less noise and much more improvements.

Opera 9.5 scores 83/100 on the Acid3 test (description and list of other browsers results here) and the CSS3.info selectors test while the new Opera Link lets me share my bookmarks between my desktop and my laptop easily.

There is no software without problems however and I find the new theme takes up too much space - still smaller than other browsers defaults (IE7’s default is massive, Firefox’s and Safari’s are bigger) but larger than the Opera 8-9.2 theme.

It also caused a few sites which treat Opera as IE instead of as a standards-compliant browser to have their javascript break in Opera. (Including the blog software’s write post option - the return button adds a new line before the current one.

Overall it is a good browser however and still the best out there.
